About and editorial policy
Who publishes Smart Outdoor Home, what the installation notes cover, and how a claim earns a place on the page.
I publish Smart Outdoor Home. The site is at smartoutdoorhome.com. I do not claim a contractor license, an electrician license, a gate-technician certification, or a lab test.
The installation these pages describe
I use a Hubitat hub with Z-Wave, a Zooz ZEN17 with a driveway gate, and Tesla automation for a garage door. I also have a pool cover pump with a float switch that air-locks, and I power-cycle that pump with a Z-Wave switch. Those are descriptions of my installation. They are not a product review and they are not a measurement.
I have not tested locks, cameras, or lighting for this site, and the articles do not claim those tests.
How a sentence gets on the page
A technical sentence cites a document, with the publisher and the date at the bottom of the article. If the document is a consultant's account of the electrical code, the article says so. The code adopted at a given address can be a different edition. The article then points you to an electrician.
Prices, star ratings, review counts, and commission amounts stay off the pages. A product link is added only when the exact listing page matches the product being discussed. A search-results URL is not used as a product.
Gate articles do not describe ways to bypass photo eyes, edges, monitors, or stops. Pool articles do not describe ways to bypass a float, a ground-fault device, or a maintenance disconnect.
